ART HOROSCOPE NOVEMBER

ARIES

This month, you’ll finally find the courage to name your fee. The stars advise you to prepare for the response: “Unfortunately, we don’t have a budget, but we’d be happy to tag you on Instagram.”

Yayoi Kusama, Dots Obsession (detail), 1968

TAURUS

Your exhibition will receive the recognition it deserves. Although most of the discussion will revolve around the champagne, and your name will be misspelled in the press release. Don’t be upset! What matters is that the institution got great engagement, and you gained “valuable experience”.

Cy Twombly, Note 1 (detail), 2007

GEMINI

Mercury enters the house of networking. You’ll attend three openings, meet twenty people and have absolutely no conversations about art. On the bright side, you’ll now have the contacts of twenty people who also don’t pay anyone.

John Constable, Rainstorm Over The Sea (detail), 1824–1828

CANCER

This month, you’ll be accused of plagiarism. Don’t panic! Call it an homage and add a three-page artist statement. What could have been an accusation can then become a discussion about the boundaries of authorship.

Marc Chagall, The Lovers (detail), 1913

LEO

A favourable month for collecting. Things will go particularly well if you can convince everyone around you that buying yet another artwork is an investment, rather than an attempt to fill an emotional void and show your friends what you’re capable of.

Andy Warhol, Untitled (detail), 1958

VIRGO

A lot of paperwork lies ahead. You’ll need to fill out a grant application, write a motivational letter, put together a budget and explain why your artistic practice deserves funding. On that last point, the stars advise honesty. Rent isn’t going to pay itself.

Jacob Lawrence, This Is Harlem (detail), 1943

LIBRA

Venus favours new connections, especially if the person you meet can introduce you to someone even more useful. Don’t miss your chance to build genuine, trusting relationships based on mutual exploitation.

Le Corbusier, Deux Femmes A La Draperie Rouge (detail), 1935

SCORPIO

This month, someone will describe your work as “decorative” and “interior-friendly”. Don’t argue. You may be dealing with someone who believes that simply removing a frame is enough to make an artistic statement.

Ana Mendieta, Untitled (detail), 1973–1977

SAGITTARIUS

Jupiter promises international opportunities. You’ll be invited to take part in an exhibition abroad, with a one-way flight covered, in exchange for a “unique experience”. The stars remind you that borders may be open to some, but exploitation has long been transnational.

Diego Rivera, Vendedora De Flores, Nina Con Lirios (detail), 1941

CAPRICORN

This month, you’ll finally write a text about your practice without using the words “research”, “context”, “form” or “representation”. Unfortunately, it will then be rejected for publication.

Jean-Michel Basquiat, Bird On Money (detail), 1981

AQUARIUS

Uranus inspires radical artistic gestures. You’ll decide to reject the capitalist system of values, but first, you’ll put your work up for auction to see how much it’s worth.

Edouard Manet, Devant La Glace (detail), 1876

PISCES

Neptune sharpens your intuition and ability to sense what lies beneath the surface. You’ll immediately know that the curator hasn’t read your application, the collector has no intention of buying your work, and the residency is looking for free labour. Just don’t mistake another red flag for spiritual growth.

Elaine De Kooning, Bullfight (detail), 1961
